Beast of Burden

Every once in a while I come across a girl who makes me re-evalute my life; makes me re-evalute my goals and my long term ambitions. Ultimately this is an unfair load to burden on someone, even someone who is a casual friend, but at the same time it’s in my nature to find these latches on which to hold on to. I don’t know what it is about me that finds such solace in the companionship of another. Call me weak, call me selfish but I call it human nature. Something within us that reaches beyond ourself, beyond our one little world into something that is more then the sum of it’s parts.

Here’s the Grey Album bitTorrent link if you’re interested. If you don’t have bitTorrent I suggest you get it. It’s pretty neat, and it comes bundled in with Shareaza which is all in all a superior P2P software package. BitTorrent works by forcing you to upload as you download – no leeching here! This alleviates the strain of hosting large files on individual servers – the bandwidth costs get spread amongst all those who download it. Very communistic and very back to the roots of what the Internet is all about.

Inspiration

I thought for a moment that a nice little project that humanity could get together on would be to make a space probe containing as much of our culture, art, politics and philosophy as we could scrounge together and send it out of this solar system as soon as we possibly could. But then again aren’t we already emitting enough signals that any alien species with a degree of intelligence could detect? I think back to the time that NASA sent out their first deep space probe which if I remember correctly contained a record player. I think it might be time to upgrade our technological presence in space.
