Bruce understands. He see’s where we’ve gone wrong, but ordinary people would probably mock him. Your average Walmart shopper would probably stare blankly if recited his piece on our culture of materialism. Why is it so hard to convince people that they desperately need to change, or it’s game over man, game over?

Ripples turn into waves
What exactly does it mean to be a person? I asked this question last post but I didn’t find an answer. Surely there must be something deep within us that defines who we are. Is our need for some kind of definition part of our common identity?
I like to look at humanity as a whole. I understand that in our global society, the notion of nations is fast becoming a detriment to our progress, but what exactly is this niggling need for nationalism? Is it as simple as needing someone to compare oneself against to find some solace in judgement? Or is just a throwback to outdated cultures?
Fate, Chance and Choice
What defines a person? If we think about our individual place in the world, what exactly is it that we can hold onto; what can we use to understand that even after our life passes, some part of us will still exist? Is immortality what we’re all ultimately after? If you’re having trouble swallowing eternal sunshine of the blessed mind versus cruelty objectified as an eternal agonizing reality, alternative choices must be made. Reincarnation, a rebirth as a new soul versus unending stillness. Look at this. Look at how appetizing the popular choice is. Sure the reincarnation isn’t too bad as a way to continue existence for all time, but when faced with ‘the unending bliss of heaven’ there’s really no choice. How could you say no to christianity?
Don’t Believe the Hype
I didn’t want my last entry to be the top entry on page so I’m forced into writing something, anything at all just to get those glaring words off the screen. I don’t know if I really hate bush or not, but I hate the things that he’s doing to this world. But enough about that, there’s plenty else to talk about.
I hate bush
pass it on
Beast of Burden
Every once in a while I come across a girl who makes me re-evalute my life; makes me re-evalute my goals and my long term ambitions. Ultimately this is an unfair load to burden on someone, even someone who is a casual friend, but at the same time it’s in my nature to find these latches on which to hold on to. I don’t know what it is about me that finds such solace in the companionship of another. Call me weak, call me selfish but I call it human nature. Something within us that reaches beyond ourself, beyond our one little world into something that is more then the sum of it’s parts.
Festivus for the rest of us
The holidays are always a time for reflection. For many months I’ve sat around in my basement room playing video games and wondering why I don’t ever seem to have time to write anymore. It’s not very complicated – I’ve given myself a digital lobotomy.
Let us beg to differ
I’m still waiting for the riots to occur. I’m in a state of resigned shock over the results, but honestly not the least bit surprised. It turns out the homophobic carrot was the election key, all that talk of the economy and terrorism were really just dressing on the meaty issue of one’s right (or non-right in 11 states) for a person to marry a person of the same sex. Way to go America! Way to show your tolerant, empathetic self. Well, that’s enough politics on this blog for a while.
Halloween Costumes
I almost forgot it was Halloween until I read until I read Sadie’s post about halloween costumes… I got to thinking about how much I enjoy Halloween.
Last year, I went as a monk and tried my hand at making a costume from scratch. This involved finding the right material (heavy brown wool blanket), and hand stitching the robe together in the shape of a uniform piece of shit. Needless to say, I was not very impressed.

I don’t care whether you like Eminem or not, but I think that everybody can get something out of this video. Some might condemn it as materialistic – pandering to commercial gain by exploiting the mood of the world to sell a record. Others might see it as an act of satan, the devil himself reincarnated to turn the prophesized path of redemption off it’s path. Most, however, will see it for what it truely is – the amplified noise of a world awash with frustration over the value choices of the American administration and it’s figurehead.
